Hi, I am Jessica and I am a mum, arts educator and photographic darkroom artist.
I created Echoes on Film to capture the quiet, fleeting moments of motherhood—moments too often left undocumented. I started by photographing my friends who had had babies, and I realised this is something that a lot of people would love so I created Echoes on Film.
As a mother myself, I know how quickly time passes. The tiny hands, sleepy cuddles, and everyday tenderness deserves to be more than memories; they deserve to be preserved in timeless, tangible photographs. Echoes on Film exists to honour these connections, creating images that feel real, raw, and lasting—an echo of love that never fades.
There are many reasons why I believe film is superior to digital photography. The ‘moment’ that is captured with a film camera is translated from light as it enters into the camera lens onto the film which is coated with tiny crystals of silver halide. This moment in time is imbrued into the film which is later developed into a negative and then finally a print. I adore this process and the hand developing of prints. I would love to capture special moments of and for your family to cherish forever!
